Tommie Jane Martin Somers, 79, of 3060 NC 150 died Friday (Nov. 19, 2010) at Annie Penn Hospital.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00PM Sunday (Nov. 21, 2010) at Citty Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Groff officiating, and burial will follow in Greenview Cemetery.
A native of Rockingham Co., she was a daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Dora Fuqua Martin and she had lived in the Williamsburg Community most of her life. She was a former Inspector with Glenn Raven Mills and had worked for Burlington Industries. Tommie Jane was a member of Thompsonville Baptist Church and was preceded in death by a brother: Bill Martin and by sisters: Ila Mae Pettigrew, Ruth Carroll, & Dora Dean Martin.
Surviving is her husband of 61 years: Ira Lee Somers of the home
Son: Michael Lee Somers and wife: Jean Wagoner Somers of Belmont
Daughter: Beverly S. Hemperly and husband: Monroe of Reidsville
Sister: Louise M. Simpson and husband: Harold of Reidsville
Grandchildren: Jason Somers and wife: Heather, Julie Ballard and husband: Ryan, and
Alex Somers and wife: Leah
Step-Grandchildren: Kara Hemperly, Kristen Jones, & Marc Durham
Great Grandchildren: Madeline Somers, Hannah Somers, Olivia Ballard,
