Jacqueline Hooper Gillie

Jacqueline Hooper Gillie, 95, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 14, 2025.

A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Memory Gardens on Monday, July 21, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. with Ted Hopkins officiating.

Jacqueline was born in Rockingham County to the late William Hooper and Lula Wilson Hooper.

After high school, she started a career working for Southern Bell in 1949 where she remained a steadfast employee until she retired in 1987. She and Marvin loved to take their camper to the beach and Smith Mountain Lake where they spent much of their summers. Jackie also enjoyed fishing and boating she was also a wonderful cook and seamstress. She and Marvin often enjoyed crafting together but most of all she loved being with her family.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 37 years, Marvin Gillie; sisters, Edna Riegel and Norma Paschal; niece, Janet Hayes.

Jackie is survived by her nieces, Carol Baird and Kim Paschal as well as a loving group of extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army at 704 Barnes Street, Reidsville, NC 27320.
