Mrs. Maggie Cook Scott Tate
ELON — Mrs. Maggie Cook Scott Tate, 83, of 7222 Busick Quarry Road, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after three years of failing health.
A native of Guilford County, she was the wife of Joel Paul Tate, who survives, and the late William Otis Scott. She was the daughter of Robert Cook and Roxie Gerringer Cook, both deceased. She was employed by Glen Raven Mills and later by Dixie Belle Textiles, from which she retired.
She was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church.
Survivors include one son, Mr. Leo (Vera) Scott of Elon; four sisters, Mrs. Irene Lamb and Mrs. Beulah Mabe, both of High Point, Mrs. Maybelle Lowe of Elon and Mrs. Violet Johnson of Burlington; one brother, Mr. Ralph Cook of Elon; grandchildren, Mrs. Brian (Stephanie) Davis of Elon and Brian Scott of Elon.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Apple and Mrs. Zona Wyrick, and two brothers, Mr. Rufus Cook and Mr. Ralis Cook.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Christian Church by the Rev. Dave Gilbert, pastor, and the Rev. Walter Jones, pastor of Altamahaw Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
Burial will be in Bethlehem Christian Church cemetery. The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times, at the home of the son, 7111 Busick-Quarry Road, Elon. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery Fund, 3540 N.C. 87 North, Elon, N.C. 27244.
