Obituary Online notes for Laran Walden PARRIS
Loran Walden Parris, 73, of Leicester, went home to be with his Lord whom he loved the most on Wednesday, January 19, 2005.
A native of Landrum, SC, he was a son of the late Collin Andrew and Vennie Steadman Parris and was also preceded in death by a son, Randall Keith Parris who died in 1966 and by a brother, Neil Parris who died in 1990.
A US Army veteran, he served with the Military Police and was stationed in Okinawa.
Mr. Parris was retired from the Asheville Police Department in 1987 after 28 years of service. He enjoyed gardening and flying and spent a lot of time in the Cival Air Patrol, worked as a dispatcher at Mountain Mobility and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He loved people and was a good friend to everyone.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Crawford Parris; two sons, Scott Parris and Timothy Parris of the home; two brothers, Norman Parris of Sylva and Noah Parris of Leicester; his mother-in-law, Dell Crawford of Leicester and a granddaughter, Stephanie Parris of Polk County.
Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens.
