Vertie Mae Hollifield Howell, age 76, of Marion, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2006 at Hospice of Catawba County.
Vertie was born in Mitchell County on December 29, 1929 and was a daughter of the late Bruce and Mattie Hollifield.
She was a member of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church. She was a long-time employee of Lifeway Christian Resources at Ridgecrest, NC. Her family will remember her as a beloved mother and grandmother.
Surviving Ms. Howell are two children: Betty Randolph and Barbara Randolph, both of Marion; five grandchildren: Vicky, Robbie, Gina, Jason and Autumn and four sisters, Pearl, Queenie, Ruby and Mary Lovena. She is also survived by five great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Grassy Creek Cemetery, with Rev. Ray Stockton officiating.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 19, 2006 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Westmoreland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Catawba County, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658. 470, Vertie Mae Hollifield Howell
