Thomas Howard Blake, 89, of Greensboro, died Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Wesley Long Hospital.

Howard was born November 21, 1928 in Salisbury, NC to the late Vivian and Charles Blake.

He was the owner of TH Blake Contracting Corporation, a World War II Navy veteran, and a member of the Elks Lodge 602 that awarded him the Elks Lodge Veteran of the Year Award in 2014.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Howard Blake II, his grandson, Ian Marshall Gentry Blake, and his brother, Eugene O'Neil Blake.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Venaway Blake, his daughters, Sharon Blake and Terrie Blake, his grandchildren, Megan Umphlett, Benjamin Blake, Adam Blake, Jason Hiles and great-granddaughter, Sierra Blake. He is also survived by six siblings; Jerry Blake, Henry Blake, Ruth Purvis, Margaret Van Poucke, Anna Snider and Charles Blake.

His wife and daughters would like to thank Doctors Ronald Davis, C. Keith Willis and Peter Daldorf for the care shown to Howard.
