Sadly, we are letting people know that our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Venaway Gore Blake, 88, of Greensboro, passed away on December 21, 2020.
She contracted the COVID virus, and in a few days, was gone.
As she was pretty healthy, it was unexpected. We are still in shock.
In addition to being a very smart, creative, loving, and assertive personality, she was as beautiful as any movie star ever.
People often mentioned her beauty to her family. It was the first thing you noticed. As you got to know her, you realized she was so much more than beautiful on the outside. We will miss her to our dying days. She was our North star.
Mrs. Blake is survived by her two daughters, Terrie Blake and Sharon Blake, three grandchildren, Megan Blake Umphlett, Jason Hiles, and Ben Blake, and a great-granddaughter, Sierra Blake.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Blake, her son, Tom Blake, two grandsons, Ian Blake and Adam Blake, and a son-in-law, Charlie Umpllett.
