Obituary Online notes for Henry Obed BLAKE
Henry Obed Blake passed away at the age of 85 on June 5, 2022 at Spring Arbor Senior Living, Greensboro NC.
Henry was born in Greensboro NC on June 10, 1936 to Charles Obed and Vivian Gilliam Blake. He grew up in the Bessemer area and graduated from Bessemer High School. He served his military duty in the US Army Corp, Transportation Company 556th at Fort Lewis, Washington. After discharge from the Army, Henry returned to employment with C. O. Blake and Sons, Inc., where he later became owner and operator until his retirement. Henry frequently gifted his service and equipment for excavating jobs to local churches. He also supported the Veterans of Foreign Wars for many years.
Henry was always a giver, not a taker and was a loyal and supportive family member and friend to his neighbors in Pleasant Garden and to his business associates throughout his working career. While at Spring Arbor, Henry had many great friends including staff members. He loved to sit on the front porch where he could greet and visit with them.
Along with his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Shaffner Blake, and his brothers, Eugene O'Neil Blake, Charles David Blake and Thomas Howard Blake Sr.
At the time of his death, he was survived by his brother, Dr. Jerry L. Blake (Mary Jo), and three sisters, Vivian Ruth Purvis, Margaret Van Poucke and Anna Blake Snider (Lee). He loved and cherished his siblings, and many nieces and nephews from his own family and from his wife's family. https://www.georgebrothersfuneral.com/obituary/Henry-Blake 470, Henry Obed Blake
