GREENSBORO — Mrs. Ruth Shaffner Blake, 76, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, September 24, 2012 at George Brothers Funeral Service with Pastor Ron L. Kimble officiating. Interment will follow in Westminster Gardens.
Ruth was born October 24, 1935 in Yadkin County to the late Jacob Ephriam and Amy Cornelius Macemore Shaffner. She was of the Baptist faith and was retired from P. Lorillard Tobacco Company with 37 years of service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, Howard, Jesse and Earl Shaffner; and a sister, Dorothy Mullis.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Henry O. Blake of the home; a brother, James Claude Shaffner (Margerette) and a sister, Frances Byrd.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405.
