Edward S. Paylor Jr.
Mr. Edward S. Paylor Jr., 57, of Silver Spring, died Monday, Sept. 4, at Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring, of complications of pneumonia.

Born July 20, 1943, in Washington, he was the son of Elaine Zepp Howes of Mount Airy, and Edward S. Paylor Sr. of New Port Richey, Fla.

He was a 1962 graduate of Wheaton High School.

Mr. Paylor was director of operations of Southern Management Corp., a property management company, for the past 12 years. He was responsible for all contracts and procurements of all Southern Management's 67 communities. He was credited with the training and mentoring of hundreds of Southern Management's approximately 1,300 employees.

An avid hunter and fisherman, he was recognized for hunting down the third largest black bear of North America while on a hunting expedition in Canada in 1998.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by three daughters, Kim Hiban of Columbia, Shauna Paylor of Elkton and Cindy Paylor of Silver Spring; four grandchildren; and one brother, Robert R. Paylor of Mount Airy.

Services will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at Mount Tabor United Methodist Church, 24115 Laytonsville Road, Gaithersburg.
