Helen was oldest of eight children born to Theodore Glen and Mae Ila (Holder) Ferguson. She married Rhonda Eugene 'Jimmy' Widener in 1945 and they were the parents of two children: Larry Eugene and Daneal Marie.

HIGH POINT — Helen Ferguson Widener, 92, of High Point, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 12, 2019, at Westchester Manor.
Helen was born in Liberty, NC, on May 12, 1927, to the late Theodore Glen Ferguson and Mae Ila Holder Ferguson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 2009, R.E. "Jimmy" Widener; a sister, Georgia Louise Ferguson; brothers, Junior, Richard and Glen Ferguson; and a grandson, Branden Hawkins.
Helen was happily married to the love of her life, that she met at an early age, Jimmy Widener, who served in the Army Air Corps. Together they had a wonderful life. She was a wonderful cook and baker and was known for her delicious chocolate cakes and apple pies. They loved to travel together, searching out flea markets for the best deals and antiques.
She will be forever missed by her family whom she dearly loved. But now, she is in heaven reunited with family who have gone on before.
Those who will cherish Helen's memories are her children, Larry Widener and wife May of Oregon, Daneal Hawkins and husband Randy of High Point; sister, Linda Scearce and husband Don; brothers, Jim Ferguson and wife Marcia of High Point, Alan Ferguson of High Point, Barney Ferguson and wife Christine of Sophia; grandchildren, Alan Widener and wife Cynthia, Brian Widener and wife Angie, Miranda Hawkins, Gabrielle Lambeth and husband Jay; ten great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to honor Helen's life will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive in High Point with the Reverend Roland Cavanaugh officiating. A private inurnement will take place at Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
