James Dwight Everhart, 88, of Kerney Kepley Drive, died Saturday, June 6, 2020 at his home.

Mr. Everhart was born April 22, 1932 in Davidson County to Thomas Moses Everhart and Mildred Black Everhart.

He faithfully served his country in the US Army and retired from Period Furniture after 41 years. An active member of Holly Grove Lutheran Church, he was a member of the Mens Brotherhood, served as head usher, and served a chairman of the cemetery committee for 34 years. He enjoyed playing the guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle and harmonica. He loved to create things from metal and wood and enjoyed gardening, as well as hunting and fishing.

His wife, Peggy Kepley Everhart, his brothers, Joe Von Everhart, Leon Everhart, and Boyd Hill Everhart, and his sisters, Jennie Shoaf and Mary Jean Sink, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his sons, Kent Everhart and companion, Diane Younts, Tim Everhart and wife, Sharon, and Rex Everhart and wife, Tracy, all of Lexington; his grandchildren, Brandon Everhart and wife, Samantha, of Lexington; Stephen Everhart and wife, Whitney, of Lexington; Leighanne Brinkle and husband, Chad, of Wilmington, Ariel Everhart and friend, Larche, of Lexington and Megan Blanchard and husband, Edward, of Huntersville; his great granddaughter, Emilia Brinkle; and his special girlfriend, Mary Malone.

A graveside service will be held at 10 am Wednesday, June 10 at Holly Grove Lutheran Church Cemetery by the Rev. Joseph Tallent. Mr. Everhart will lie in state from 9-10 am at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Holly Grove Lutheran Church, 212 Holly Grove Lutheran Church Road, Lexington, NC 27292.
