Mrs. Shalley graduated from Huntington High School in 1941 and attended Olivet Nazarene University for one year. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Hillcrest Church of the Nazarene and served as vice president of the Northeast Indiana District Missionary Society. She taught many classes, including women's groups, vacation Bible school and Sunday school. She played piano and organ for many of the churches her husband served.

She was born July 27, 1923, in Huntington County to Paul and Mary Heiney Updike. She married Rev. Russell E. Shalley on May 9, 1943, in Huntington. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2010.

Survivors include four sons, Sheldon E. (Betty) Shalley, of Noblesville; Larry P. (Marta) Shalley, of Boubonnais, IL; Michael D. (Julie) Shalley, of Tsumeb, Namibia; and James A. Shalley, of Bolingbrook, IL; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
