Obituary Online notes for Rev. Russell E. SHALLEY
Rev. Russell E. Shalley, age 90, of Warren, died at 4:47 a.m. Sunday (April 18, 2010) at Heritage Pointe in Warren.

Rev. Shalley was born in Huntington on December 3, 1919, the son of Nathaniel Adam and Annabell (Dailey) Shalley. On May 9, 1943, Russell married Eloise R. Updike at the Huntington First Nazarene Church officiated by her father, Paul Updike.

Rev. Shalley was a member of the Warren Nazarene Church.

He graduated from Huntington High School in 1938 and continued his education at Olivet Nazarene University graduating in 1945 with a bachelor of theology degree. Russell also attended Huntington College.

Rev. Shalley started full time ministry in 1945 with the Northeastern Conference in Ossian until 1949. He then went on to serve at the Garrett Nazarene Church 1949-1955, Peru Nazarene Church 1955-1962, Fort Wayne Southside Nazarene Church 1962-1969, Marion First Nazarene Church 1969-1974, Goshen Nazarene Church 1974-1981 and retired after serving Marion Lincoln Boulevard Nazarene Church from 1981-1986. After retirement, Rev. Shalley continued part time ministry for over 20 years at several churches in Illinois. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and reading.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years – Eloise Shalley of Warren; four sons – Sheldon E. (Betty) Shalley of Noblesville, Larry P. (Marta) Shalley of Bourbonnais, Illinois, Michael D. (Julie) Shalley of TSUMEB Namibia, Africa and James A. Shalley of Bolingbrook, Illinois; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

His parents, brothers – Raymond Shalley, Ralph Shalley, Virgil Shalley and Wayne Shalley, and sisters – Elona Jenks, Ann Fowerbaugh, Grace Shalley, Ruby Hacker and an infant, precede him in death.

Visitation will be 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. Wednesday (April 21, 2010) at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington with funeral services following at 2 p.m. Rev. Greg Chambers and Rev. Mark Davis will officiate.

Burial will be in the Lancaster Cemetery, Huntington County.

Memorials may be made to Russell's son, Michael, (payable to Larry Shalley) towards his Nazarene missionary work in Namibia, Africa in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN 46750.
