Mrs. Estelle "Scotti" Scott Chambers, went to be with our Lord, June 18, 2004, at her residence.
Funeral services for Mrs. Chambers will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 21, at New Covenant Wesleyan Church, with Pastor Floyd McVey officiating assisted by Pastor Tom Karp. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.
Mrs. Chambers was born in Guilford County to the late Herbert and Oppie Dunn Slack.
She was a member of New Covenant Wesleyan Church where she served as hostess and was a member of the Adult Sunday school class. She also was a member of Circle #3 of her former church Christ Wesleyan Church. She volunteered at Wesley Long Hospital for approximately four years and was a member of Women of the Moose Lodge # 685. She was a devoted wife who enjoyed floral design, dancing and was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed gardening and cooking and especially taking care of her children and being a Nana to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of six years, Claude Chambers; her sons and their wives, Ronnie Scott and wife, Gwen of Greensboro and Billy Scott and wife, Gigi of Brown Summit; daughter and her husband, Deborah and Jerry Forrest of Lexington; two sisters, Ruby Lambert and Irma Gravitt of Atlanta, Ga.; six grandchildren, April, Bart, Tina, Christie, Joy and Shelby; and four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Tyler, Reece and Hailie.Also surviving are the children of Mr. Chambers, Charlotte Williams, Wilma (Bill) Bailess, Debbie Chambers, and Ronnie Chambers and their families.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William R. Scott, Jr. in 1988, and her brother Walter Slack in 2003.
The family of Mrs. Chambers would like to thank the nurses and staff of Wesley Long and Moses Cone Hospitals and also Hospice of Greensboro for their compassionate care provided for Mrs. Chambers.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Covenant Wesleyan Church, 4708 Alliance Church Road, Pleasant Garden, N.C. 27313.Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday evening at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
