(Ret.) Captain Walter Timothy Oakley, 65, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Columbus Hospice House.
Mr. Oakley was born September 14, 1953 in Burlington, NC, son of Rebecca Lee Oakley of Burlington, NC and the late Charles Hugh Oakley. He retired as a Captain after 20 years from the U.S. Army. Mr. Oakley was a teacher for the Muscogee County School District where he taught at Columbus High School, Shaw High School, Jordan Vocational High School and Spencer High School.
Survivors include his mother; his wife, Irene G. Oakley of Columbus, GA; daughter Rebecca Oakley of Talbot County, GA; sisters, Sheila Higgins and Lisa Smith both of Burlington, NC; brother, Charles H. Oakley (Barbara) of Goldsboro, NC and granddaughter, Savanna York (Trevor). 470, Walter Timothy Oakley
