Agnes Tate Phillippie
   LIBERTY — Mrs. Agnes Tate Phillippie, 90, of 3761 West Greensboro-Chapel Hill Road, Liberty died at the Hospice Home on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at 10:35 p.m. following fi ve years of declining health.

   A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Willard Phillippie, who survives and the daughter of Andrew Tate and Ethel Mc-Intyre Tate, both deceased. She was a former bookkeeper for Sellars Department Store and a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.

   In addition to her husband of the home, survivors include two stepdaughters, Judy Simmons and husband Dale and Ann Drake and husband Bob, all of Liberty; four stepgrandchildren, Lynette Taylor, David Gwynn Simmons, Bobby Drake and John Drake; eight stepgreatgrandchildren; brother, Ervin Tate of Greensboro; sister-in-law, Pauline Hoyle Tate; and special nephew, Chris McKinney.

   She was preceded in death by two brothers, Maurice Tate and Thomas Tate and three sisters, Margaret Tate, Louise Norman and Rita Alderman.

   The funeral service will be conducted at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist

   Church on Thursday,

   Sept. 26, 2013, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Chuck Ireson with the family receiving friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Other times the family will be at the home of a stepdaughter, Ann Drake, 6102-B Foster Store Road, Liberty, NC.

   In lieu of fl owers, memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 4400 Alamance Church Road, Liberty, NC 27298; or, to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.

   Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington is in charge of arrangements.
