Joseph Alonza "Joe" McKinney
RUFFIN, N.C. — Joseph Alonza "Joe" McKinney , 78, of 2218 Ashland Road, Ruffin, died Thursday, July 26, 2007, at Annie Penn Hospital.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2007, in Camp Springs United Methodist Church cemetery with military rites.
A native of Rockingham County, he was a son of the late Albert Ryle "Bud" and Annie Belle Dawson McKinney and had lived in Caswell County for the past 30 years.
A retired employee of Glen Raven Mills he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict and was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Soyars McKinney and his sister, Jacqueline M. Phillips.
Survivors include a son, Chris McKinney of Crestview Hills, Ky.; two brothers, Donald B. "Buddy" McKinney and wife Sandra of Kernersville and Kenneth Lee McKinney and wife Louise of Reidsville; two stepsons, Daryl Shaw and wife Debra, and Keith Shaw, all of Reidsville; stepgranddaughter, Darya Shaw of Ruffin; special friends and cousins, Ira Lee Somers and wife Tommie Jane and Reginald McKinney and wife Frances, all of Reidsville.
The family will see friends from 7 to 9 Friday evening at Citty Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of his brother, Kenneth McKinney , 915 N.C. 87, Reidsville.

The family would like to thank the staff and nurses on the third floor of Annie Penn Hospital and the nurses in the ICU Units on second and third floor of Moses Cone Hospital for their care and compassion. The family would also like to give a special thank you to Dr. Gregory Hayes for all his help throughout Joe’s sickness.
