Mr. Raymond D. Whitesell
    BURLINGTON — Mr. Raymond D. Whitesell, 77, of 1313 Granville St., died at 6:03 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 2003, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several years of illness.
    A native of Durham County, he was the husband of Mrs. Nadine Wells Whitesell, who survives, and the son of the late Joseph Whitesell and Lillie Baynes Murray Whitesell. He was a supervisor with Burlington Industries Mayfair Division. He was a WW II Veteran of the Army Air Corps and a member of the American Legion. He was of the Methodist faith and was loved by all who met him.
    Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Ms. Joan W. Whitesell of Burlington, who loved him as a father and a friend; and three sisters, Mrs. Margaret W. Findley of Gibsonville, Mrs. Hilda W. Whitaker of Graham, and Mrs. Norma W. Mitchell of Burlington.
    He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mr. Roy Whitesell and Mr. Maurice Whitesell; and two sisters, Mrs. Pauline W. Small and Mrs. Inez Hinshaw.
    The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rich & Thompson Chapel by the Rev. Randy Maynard, First United Methodist Church of Elon. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
    The family will be at Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, other times at the residence.
