Obituary Online notes for “Dan” James Daniel HAMBY
Mr. James Daniel Hamby, 75, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Woltz Hospice Home.

Mr. Hamby was born September 30, 1938 in Watauga County to Prince and Pearl Green Hamby.

He was a faithful member of Boonville Baptist Church.

Dan loved his family, playing golf, and he loved his "Greenstreet Friends Club" which was his home away from home.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hamby was preceded in death by a grandson, Colton Chappell; a brother, Blan Hamby; and two sisters, Gladys Triplett and Vea Triplett.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Joyce Ray Hamby; five children, Lisa Whitesell Wagoner and husband Larry, Joyce Hamby Skiles, Tammy Whitesell Chappell and husband Mark, Larry Dean Hamby and wife Penny, and Lynn Hamby Gabel and husband Steve; nine grandchildren, Jesscia Kidd and husband Anthony, Joshua Skiles, Stevie Gabel, Leslie Wagoner, Lanie Wagoner, Chandler Chappell, Justin Hamby, Mayson Foster, and Hayden Foster; one great grandchild, Lillian Grace Kidd; one sister, Vivian McNeil of Danville, VA; a very special friend, Jerry Holbrook; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday, December 13, 2013 at 2:00PM at Boonville Baptist Church with Rev. John Brown and Rev. Ken Boaz officiating.

Mr. Hamby will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Boonville Cemetery.
