Mrs. Joyce Ray Hamby, 81, passed away Friday, May 5, 2023, at SECU Hospice Home.
Mrs. Hamby was born September 16, 1941, in Alamance County to Dewitt and Naomi Thompson Ray.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hamby was preceded in death by her first husband, James Darrell Whitesell; her second husband, James Daniel "Dan" Hamby; her grandson, Mark Colton Chappell; and a brother, "Tommy" Ray.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Lisa (Larry) Wagoner, Tammy (Mark) Chappell, Joyce Ann Skiles, Larry Dean (Penny) Hamby, and Lynn (Steve) Gabel; grandchildren, Leslie (Jonathan) Jordan, Chandler Chappell, Lanie (Blayden) Tucker, Jessica (Anthony) Kidd, Joshua (Leah) Skiles, Stevie (Garrett) Forrister, Justin (Macey) Hamby, Mayson Foster, and Hayden Foster; great-grandchildren, Lillian, Evelyn, and Ava; three sisters, Peggy Stout, Barbara "Aunt Bootsie" Martin, and Rozelle Horne; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Boonville Baptist Church with Rev. John Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Boonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, prior to the service in the sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SECU Hospice Home, 243 N Lee Ave, Yadkinville, NC 27055. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Hamby family.
