Ronald “Ronnie” Thompson

BURLINGTON – Ronald Eugene “Ronnie” Thompson, 74, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 17, 2017 at Piedmont Christian Home.

He was born in Alamance County on February 1, 1943 to the late Lonnie and Ruth Thompson and was the husband to Peggy Hall Thompson of 35 years who survives.

Ronald retired from P. Lorillard. He was an active member with Crossway Church, enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels and was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survivors other than his wife, Peggy Thompson include his son, David Thompson; grandchildren, Chandler, Dess and Lilliehope Beckom; sister, Barbara Bryant and husband, Arnold; sisters-in-law, Brenda and Helen Thompson.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Powers; parents; brothers, Desmond and Roger Thompson; sisters, Marie Huffines and Jane Beckom.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Garry Yeatts with the burial to follow in Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday.
