Obituary Online notes for John F. CLAPP
Funeral services for J. F. Clapp, who passed away in Houston Sunday, were held at Norwood Cemetery Monday afternoon at 1:30, the body having arrived on the 1:00 o'clock northbound Central. Mr. Clapp was 83 years of age and had been an invalid for several months. At the time of his death he was making his home with his daughter, Mrs. W. A. Biggs of Houston. Seventy-five years ago when Texas was attracting within her borders pioneers from the old states, the Clapp family was among the numbers settling from Tennessee in Colorado County. J.F. Clapp, then a lad of eight years, resided there for some time, going later to Jackson County for residence. It was here he made his home after manhood, and since the death of his wife some years ago, has divided his time among his children, G. M. Clapp of Hearne, F. H. Clapp of Ganado, and Mrs. W. A. Biggs of Houston.
