Hill, Ann Waynick

April 16, 1955 - June 21, 2022

Ann Waynick Hill, 66, died on June 21, 2022 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House in Winston-Salem, NC. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday July 9th at God's Acre, Salem Moravian Graveyard.

Ann was born on April 16, 1956 to the late George Elder Waynick and the late Carolyn Jarrett Waynick. She is survived by her loving husband of forty-four years Dr. Edward Gray Hill Jr. and her children Gray Hill (Jessica) and Anna Jarrett Propst (John), grandson George Beau Hill and granddaughter Frances James Propst. Ann is also survived by her cousins and beloved friends too numerous to mention. Ann graduated from Salem Academy, and received a B.S in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

After graduating from nursing school, she worked for both North Carolina Baptist Hospital and Forsyth Memorial Hospital.

Ann's love for people, music and beauty had no bounds. She considered others' needs above her own and gave of herself generously. She was a member of the Junior League of Winston-Salem and worked on many fundraising projects within the League. She was a very talented artist and loved creating beautifully-painted furniture and portraits.

She was an avid gardener who delighted in attending garden club events and was a member of Westwood Garden Club. She also had a love of music which began in her childhood singing in the choir of Home Moravian Church and continued at Salem Academy and on into her adulthood singing with the Carolina Chorus at Chapel-Hill and the Piedmont Chamber Singers.

She was preceded in death by her lifelong best friend Kiki Teague; together they traveled with the Moravian "Hussite Bell Ringers" throughout the United States. They had fun adventures together for many years.

Ann lived with purpose, generosity, character; and she will leave a legacy of love that will never be forgotten.

The family would like to extend our immense appreciation to Mary Ann and Reverend Tom Baird, Reverend Andrew Heil, Mary Laura Teague-Austin, Ann and Joe Hsu and the wonderful staff at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House for their kindness and compassion in her final hours.

Ann loved animals and treasured her many dogs and cats over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of Forsyth County, 4881 Country Club Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
