Forest Earl Barnes, 85, of Superior, Colo., died Friday, May 9, 2008, at his home of complications from congestive heart failure.

He was born June 15, 1922, in Eaton, Ohio, the son of Fred L. and Ruth (Kirkoff) Barnes.

He was a 1940 graduate of Monroe High School in Preble County, Ohio, and served in the Army Air Corps from 1940 to 1945.

He worked for Dana Corporation from 1963 to 1987.

He married Phyllis A. Miller of New Paris, Ohio, on June 15, 1946.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife.

Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Timothy M. and Pat Barnes, and Scott R. Barnes; daughter and son-in-law, Gretchen A. (David) Pruett; grandchildren, Timothy M. (Krista) Barnes Jr., Joseph H. Barnes, Gail A. Pruett and Diana R. Pruett; and great-grandchildren, Austin and Kaley Barnes.

Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park, Broomfield, Colo.
