Mr. Ralph W. Webster
MEBANE — Mr. Ralph William Webster, 82, of 7318 Hebron Church Road, died at 8:45 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a critical illness of three weeks.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Bertha Rice Webster, who survives, and the son of the late Mr. Cary N. Webster and Mrs. Addie Farrell Webster. He was retired from General Electric Corp in Mebane and was formerly employed with Tower Hosiery Mill in Burlington and Eagle Oil Co. in Mebane. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Hawfields Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder and a Sunday school teacher.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Mrs. Betsy Webster Shambley of Haw River and Mrs. Patricia Webster Wheeley of Cary; two sons, Mr. Clyde T. Webster of Mebane and the Rev. Stanley N. Webster of Portsmouth, Ohio; four grandchildren; a brother, Mr. Allen Webster of Burlington; and three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Lynch of Haw River, Mrs. Rachel Walters of Raleigh, and Mrs. Ruby Lee Robertson of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Mrs. Selma Arrudo, Ms. Viola Webster, Mrs. Nellie Mae Somers, and Mrs. Ruth Webster Smith; and seven brothers, Mr. Frank Webster, Mr. Jesse Webster, Mr. Herman Webster, Mr. Cecil Webster, Mr. Dace Webster, Mr. Henry Webster, and Mr. Daniel Webster.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hawfields Presbyterian Church by Dr. Curtis Fussell, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral home in Mebane from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home.
