McLEANSVILLE — Mr. Houston Richard Gerringer, 80, of 5411 Eastcrest Street, died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, at Beverly Health Care in Greensboro.

A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of Mrs. Evelyn Chrisman Gerringer, who survives, and the son of Mr. Ronnie Apple and Mrs. Claudia Gerringer Apple, both.

He was a sawmill owner and operator. He was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church and a member of Spiritual Pathway Sunday School Class.

Surivors other than his wife of the home include a son, Mr. Curtis Gerringer of Mount Holly; a sister, Ms. Gladys Apple of Gibsonville; seven brothers, Mr. Delano Apple, Mr. Reid Apple, Mr. Dewey Apple and Mr. Jerry Apple, all of Gibsonville, Mr. Hobert Apple of Julian and Mr. Clifton Apple and Mr. Delano Apple, both of McLeansville; and two grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church by the Rev. James Allred, pastor, and the Rev. James Auman, assistant pastor.

Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park in Greensboro.

The family will be at Bartlett Funeral Home in Gibsonville from 6 to 8 this evening.
