JULIAN, N.C. — Mr. Hobert Vester Apple, 81, of 2803 Mt. Hope Church Road, died Friday, May 31, 2013, at Wesley Long Community Hospital.
The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 PM Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:30 – 3:45 prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Obituary
Mr. Hobert Vester Apple, age 81, of 2803 Mt. Hope Church Rd., passed away Friday, May 31, 2013 at Wesley Long Community Hospital after several months of failing health.
Born on September 5, 1931, to the late Ronnie and Claudia Gerringer Apple, he was a lifelong resident of Guilford County, growing up in McLeansville before moving to the Mt. Hope community. He was married for over 60 years to Mrs. Annie Lee Clapp Apple and raised five sons, Ray, Dale, Gary, Jeryl and Eric. Hobert was a U.S Army veteran and was a well known auto mechanic for over thirty years. He farmed much of his life and was recognized for his beautiful gardens, especially his German Johnson tomatoes. He was a member of Mt. Hope United Church of Christ.
Mr. Apple is survived by his wife of the home, Annie Lee Clapp Apple; five sons, Ray (Sharon) Apple, Dale (Cindy) Apple, Gary Apple, Jeryl (Gloria) Apple and Eric (Barbara) Apple; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Apple; five brothers, Delano Apple, Dewey Apple, Reid Apple, Buddy Apple and Jerry Apple; and his close friend Diz Reece. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Carnell Randleman; and two brothers, Houston Gerringer and Clifton Apple.
The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 PM Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Lloyd Spencer. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:30 – 3:45 prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
The family wishes to thank all those at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital and Wesley Long Community Hospital, especially the Emergency Room Staff, who extended their loving care to their loved one, Mr. Apple.
