Alan Davis Kernodle
The life of Alan Davis Kernodle will be celebrated with a graveside service Saturday July 5, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Memorial Park.
Alan left for his Heavenly home Wednesday, July 2, 2014, in Big Spring, Texas. At 88, Alan had a thumbs up and a hearty “hello” for friends and family and no one was a stranger.
Alan met his sweetheart Undine DeBruler in Burlington, N.C. shortly before moving to Big Spring. He then called for her a year later to be his bride. They married in 1952 and recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.
Alan worked for 31 years as an electrician for Cosden Oil & Chemical. He served as a deacon at the First Christian Church of Big Spring and as a member of the Evening Lions Club. After retirement from Cosden he delivered prescriptions for Leonard’s Pharmacy and painted homes. His favorite pastimes were watching high school softball,
any baseball game and catnapping while watching
television.
He was a devoted father to Katie and Alana for most of his life.
His memory is cherished by his wife, Undine Kernodle of Big Spring; daughter, Katie and her husband Glen Grigg of Ackerly; grandson, J.D. and his wife Carrie Grigg of Odessa; granddaughter, Tinsey Grigg of Lubbock, sisters-in-law, Virginia Kernodle and Cozette Kernodle; nieces and nephews, Jean Gaither, Donnie Kernodle, Ronnie Kernodle, Rickey Kernodle, Cathy Davis, Wally Kernodle, all of Union Ridge, N.C. and 10 greatnieces and nephews as well as countless other friends.
