Mrs. Annie Delithan Clapp Allen

    MEBANE — Mrs. Annie Delithan Clapp Allen, 86, formerly of 246-A U.S. 70 West, died at 2:18 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Liberty Commons after a month of failing health.

    A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Ellis Durant Allen, and the daughter of the late Floyd Everett Clapp and Myrtle Frankie Smith Clapp. She was a member of Mebane United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Annie Crawford Sunday school class and the United Methodist Women’s Circle.

    Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jo Ann Fox and husband, John, of Browns Summit; a son, Charles D. Allen of Swansboro, N.C.; four grandsons, Christopher Fox and Shawn Fox, both of Browns Summit and Travis Allen and Chad Allen, both of Swansboro; four great-grandchildren, Cody Fox, Lucas Fox, Jacob Fox, and Hannah Fox; four sisters, Clara Chriscoe, Lucy Wagoner, and Sue Clubb, all of Burlington and Agnes Fogleman of Alamance; and two brothers, Kestle Clapp of Elon and Floyd Junior Clapp of Burlington.

    She was preceded in death by a sister, Mabel Wagoner; and four brothers, Luke Clapp, Ferry Clapp, Buddy Clapp, and Raymond Clapp.

    The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2004, at the McClure Funeral Chapel in Mebane by the Rev. Ken Hall Jr., pastor of Mebane United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
    The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at McClure Funeral Service in Mebane.
