Mrs. Grace Hoffman Clapp
WHITSETT — Mrs. Grace Hoffman Clapp went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 3, 2007. Mrs. Clapp was born on February 12, 1912, in Whitsett, N.C. She was married to her loving husband, Ferry Clapp Sr., on September 7, 1935. They were blessed with a marriage of 62 years. She will be dearly missed and remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a dear friend.
Mrs. Clapp was preceded in death by her husband, Ferry Clapp Sr.; and her parents, Myron Allen Hoffman and Mary Woodard Hoffman .
Surviving are a daughter, Brenda Wade and husband, Richard, of Whitsett; four sons, F.A. Clapp Jr. and wife, Judith, of Whitsett, Douglas Clapp and wife, Pat, of Liberty, Michael Clapp and wife, Dot, of Whitsett, and Gerald Clapp and wife, Ronda, of Whitsett; 14 grandchildren, Lisa Ingle, Sherry Bradshaw, Carrie Craig, Nina Allred, Franklin Clapp , Michael Clapp Jr., John Clapp , April Allred, Frank Clapp , Bobby Hunter Jr., Wayne Hunter, Kimberly Lutterloh, Stephanie Clapp and Jessie Clapp ; 12 great-grandchildren, Sara Ingle, Victoria Bradshaw, Adriana Bradshaw, Nicholas Hensley, Theo Craig, Brandy Craig, Charles Douglas "Seed" Allred, Mikayla Clapp , Jacob Allred, Grayson Allred, Autumn Hunter, and Cameron Lutterloh.
Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Theodore "Ted" J. Hoffman and Harry L. Hoffman ; three sisters, Mrs. Brower "Jennie" Ingle, Mrs. Seth "Elsie" Slade, and Mrs. Wade "Marion" York; and two great-grandchildren, Allie Ingle and Summer Mashburn.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at Brick Reformed Church, with the Rev. Jon Bailey, and the Rev. Robert Boyd officiating. The casket will be placed in the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 5 to 8 this evening, and other times at the residence.
