Mrs. Susie Mary Ezell Thomas
MEBANE — Mrs. Susie Mary Ezell Thomas, 86, of 509 E. Graham St., died July
16, 2002, at the home of her daughter in Burlington.
Born Nov. 11, 1915, in Orange County, she was the wife of the late Carson
Durant Thomas, and the daughter of the late Thomas William Ezell and Eva
Mae Noah York. She was a homemaker and was a lifelong member of Mebane
United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Ladies Circle of church
and was a member of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Jimmy Dan (Claudette) Ross, Mrs.
James E. (Charlotte) Trollinger, all of Burlington, and Mrs. Akers (Cathy) Steel
of Sandy Ridge; a son, Mr. Cliffton William Thomas of Mebane; a stepsister,
Mrs. Hortense Holmes of Burlington; nine grandchildren; and 13
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Mrs. Bobby (Caroline)
Hightower and Ms. Mary Elizabeth Thomas; four sons, Mr. Carson Durant
Thomas Jr., Mr. Charles Lowell Thomas, Mr. Cary Leroy Thomas, and Mr.
Craig Lynch Thomas; three sisters, Mrs. Lilly Shambley, Mrs. Carrie Miller, and
Mrs. Nellie Farrell Clayton; two brothers, Mr. Frank Ezell and Mr. Tinsley Ezell;
a stepfather, Mr. Herbert Sharpe York; two stepsisters, Mrs. Lois Ellington and
Mrs. Margaret Pickard; three stepbrothers, Mr. Herbert Clegg York, Mr. William
Cliffton, and Mr. Ralph Lynch York; two sons-in-law, Mr. Charles Stevens and
Mr. James E. Trollinger; and one grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mebane United Methodist
Church by Mr. Brandon Stuart Trivette, the Rev. Dave Gilbert, and the Rev.
Sam Frazier, Vicar. Burial will be in Lebanon United Methodist Church
cemetery.
Visitation will be at Walkers Funeral Home in Mebane from 6 to 8 this evening.
