John  "Harold" Sutton  Sr.
    ELON — John  "Harold " Sutton  Sr., age 82, of 3767 Osceola Road, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2005 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.
    A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of Ruby Lee Wright Sutton , and son of the late John  Thomas and Lena Myrtle Brown Sutton . He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a retired employee of Glen Raven Mills, and a farmer.
    Survivors include his wife, Ruby Lee Wright Sutton  of the home; daughters, Kathey Lee Howell of Clayton and Teresa Darlene Price and husband, Tommy, of Raleigh; sons, John Harold Sutton  Jr. and wife, Martha, of Burlington and Thomas Andrew Sutton  and wife, Mickey, of Elon; nine grandchildren, Denny Jones, Kathryn Parker, Stephanie Palma, Leslie Sutton , Andy Sutton  Jr., Chris Sutton , Tessa Price, James Price, and Stephen Sutton ; six greatgrandchildren; six sisters, Pauline Gross and husband, Byron, Gaynell McCollum and husband, Luther, Billie Benolken, and Polly Wilson and husband, Richard, all of Elon, Margie Foster of San Antonio, Texas, and Shelvia Russell of Graham; one brother, John  D. Sutton  and wife, Ann, of Elon. He was preceded in death by his parents; greatgrandchild, Shelby Denton; sister, Velma Sutton ; and brother, Thomas Sutton .
    Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2005, at the Fairview United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jared Hanson, and the Rev. Dr. Ronald E. Gardner. Military cryptside services will follow at the Mausoleum of Alamance Memorial Park.
    Mr. Sutton  will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today, and at other times at the residence.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairview United Methodist Church, Memorial Fund or to the Building Fund, 3128 Osceola Road, Elon, N.C. 27244.
