ELON COLLEGE — Mr. Harvey Leslie Shue Jr., 74, of 3518 Freeman Lane, died at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 1999, at
the Hospice Home of Burlington after several years of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Joyce Gibson Shue, who survives, and the son of Mr. Harvey
L. Shue Sr. and Mrs. Elizabeth Dale Smith Shue, both deceased. He was a retired insurance representative. He was a U.S.
Army veteran of World War II and was a Jehovah’s Witness.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Zane) Gerringer of Elon College; two sisters,
Mrs. Ione Staley of Liberty and Ms. Norma Shue of Graham; a brother, Mr. W.E. Shue of Siler City; a grandchild; and a
great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Grace Howard, and two brothers, Mr. Robert Shue and Mr. Desmond Shue.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Graham by Mr. Morris Cooper. Burial
will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 this evening and at other times at the home
of the daughter, 2590 Gibsonville-Ossipee Road, Elon College.
