Carol Eugene “Gene” Hall
BURLINGTON — Carol Eugene “Gene” Hall, 77, of 2401 Blanche Drive, passed away at 9:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at the Hospice Home after a short illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the loving husband of Katrine Aldridge Hall for 54 years. He was the son of the late Gladwyn “Jim” McPherson Hall and the late Daisy Spence Campbell Hall. For 60 years he was affiliated with the City Furniture Company in Burlington, and for the last 22 years served as the primary owner and operator of the store. Gene was also a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church and served as its treasurer for the last 45 years. He was a former member of the Burlington Jaycees and the Burlington Optimist Club, holding various offices in both organizations.
In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by three daughters, Sherrie Katrine Bourg and her husband, Robert “Bob” Randall Bourg, of New Orleans, Karla L. Hall, of Burlington, and Julie Hall Wilson and her husband, Jeffrey Lynn Wilson, of Burlington; four grandchildren, Rebecca Jean Bourg, Brandon Charles Bourg and his wife, Bridgett L. Bourg, Brandon Wade Moore and Christian Blake Wilson; three brothers, James Lee Hall and his wife, Shirley, of Graham, Robert Allen Hall and his wife, Gwen, of Burlington and John Mack Hall, of Graham. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Jean Hall; and a brother, Jerry Edgar Hall.
A service celebrating the life of Gene Hall will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Don Swinney, the Rev. Ernest Beck, the Rev. Don Pegg and Mr. George Nall. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the Rich and Thompson Mortuary on Monday, from 12 to 1:30 p.m.
