Mrs. Pearl Lee Starnes Ivey
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Pearl Lee Starnes Ivey, 94, formerly of 805 Clyde Street, died Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at Burlington Manor. She was a native of Lancaster, SC and the daughter of the late Hoy Edgar Starnes and Jeanette Rorie Starnes. Pearl retired from Cone Mills in Gibsonville and was a longtime member of Staley Memorial Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest George Ivey, Sr.
Survivors include her son, Glenwood Thomas Ivey of Kure Beach, NC; fourteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Margie Keller of Burlington. She was preceded in death by her husband, sons, Robert L. Ivey, Willie Morgan Ivey and E. G. Ivey, Jr.; sister, Louise Thomas; brothers, Willie Foster Starnes Melon “Sleepy” Starnes and Lonnie Starnes.
The funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2002 at 11:00 AM at Staley Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Bennie Smith. Burialwill follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8Pm on Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory. Other times the family will be at the sisters’ home, 2817 Delaney Drive, Burlington, NC.
