Roy  Garland Summers 

    GIBSONVILLE — Roy  Garland Summers , age 87, of 6539 N.C. 61 North, passed away Wednesday March 1, 2006, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

    A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of Helen Fryar Summers  for 56 years, and was the son of the late George Andrew and Lelia Brown Summers .

He was a member of Frieden’s Lutheran Church and a prominent dairy farmer in the Friedens community.

    Survivors include his wife, Helen Fryar Summers  of the home; daughters, Rhonda Lynn Summers  of Stoney Creek and Gayle Honeycutt and husband, Wayne, of Greensboro; son, Rodney Summers  and wife, Tammi, of Elon; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and one great-stepgrandchild.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Iola Summers , Mary S. Shepherd and Eula S. Gerringer; brothers, Hubert A. Summers , George W. Summers , the Rev. Daniel B. Summers , and Arlie W. Summers .

    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2006, at Frieden’s Lutheran Church by the Rev. Raymond Petrea, pastor. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Summers  will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

    Memorials may be made to Frieden’s Lutheran Church, 6001 N.C. 61, North, Gibsonville, N.C. 27249 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
    The family wishes to thank the many people who touched his life with caring and compassion. A special thanks to Dr. Marshall Anderson, Kim and the office staff, Hospice of Alamance, the ARMC Emergency Department and the entire staff of 2-A Telemetry.
