Dewey R. "Mike" Barber
ROANOKE, VA. - Mr. Dewey R. "Mike" Barber, 72, died Monday, Sept. 7, 1998, at V. A. Medical Center, Salem, Va., after several months of declining health.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, in Shallow Ford United Church of Christ Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Don Overman, Pastor of Victory Worship Center.
He was a native of Alamance County, the son of the late Thomas DeWitt Barber and the late Mable Blanchard Barber. He was a retired truck drive with Roadway Express and former member of Shallow Ford United Church of Christ. He was a member of the Burlington Elks Club and was a WWII U.S. Marine Corp veteran.
He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. William Nathan (Mickey) Allen of Burlington; sister, Mrs. William L. (Patsy) Finley of Cedar Grove; grandson, Timothy Grant Baldwin of New Jersey; granddaughters, Brianna Marie Baldwin and Marissa Kay Baldwin both of New Jersey. He was predeceased by his daughter, Donna Lynn Barber; and brother, William Lawrence Barber.
