Thomas Dewitt Barber
     Elon College, Feb. 15 — Thomas DeWitt Barber, 56, of Route 2, Elon College, died at a Greensboro hospital yesterday afternoon at 12:20 o'clock. Although he had been in failing health for a year, he died suddenly following a heart attack.
     A native of Alamance County, Mr. Barber was the son of the late D. Riley and Mrs. Addie Thomas Barber, and the husband of Mrs. Mable Blanchard Barber, who survives.
     Other survivors include one daughter, Miss Patsy Barber, Route 2, Elon College; two sons, Dewey R. Barber and William L. Barber, Route 2, Elon College; one granddaughter; one sister, Mrs. Arvil Penley, Route 2, Elon College; five brothers, J. D. Barber, Charlotte, B. A. Barber, Route 2, Elon College, A. E. Barber, F. H. Barber and W. C. Barber of Owanka, S. D.
     Funeral services will be held at Shallowford Christian Church Friday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock with Rev. Kenneth Register, pastor of Union Ridge Christian Church, and Rev. James Hailey, pastor of Shallowford Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Shallowford Church Cemetery.
     The body was removed to the residence at 1 o'clock today and lie in state at the church from 2:30 to 3:30 o'clock Friday afternoon. Mr. Barber, a prominent farmer of the Shallowford Community, was a member of the Shallowford Church and was affiliated with the Modern Woodmen.

Thomas Dewitt Barber
     Elon College, Feb. 17.— The funeral service for Thomas DeWitt Barber, 56, Route 2. Elon College, who died Wednesday were conducted at Shallowford Christian Church yesterday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock.
     Officiating ministers were Rev. James Hailey, pastor of the Shallowford Church, and Rev. Kenneth Register, a former pastor who is now pastor of the Union Ridge Christian Church. Music was by the Oakley Quartet and a solo by Miss Barbara Jean Penley. Interment was in the Shallowford Church Cemetery.
     Active pallbearers were Bud Tickle, Long Kernodle, Devoe Apple, Willie Lowe, Clifton Truitt and Ralph Crawford.
     Honorary pallbearers were Paul Gerringer, George Talbert, Bud Hensley, W. L. Wyrick, G. D. Wyrick, Will Sutton, Claude Coble, J. J. Isley, Ed Anderson and Pollard Gerringer.
     Mrs. Paul Gerringer and Mrs. Artis Pollard were in charge of floral arrangements and assisted by Mesdames L. B. Christmas, Lorena Scoggins, Jim Crabtree, Ethel Cable, W. E. Walker, Boyd Tickle, Willie Lowe, G. M. Gerringer, Onia Truitt, Walter Wyrick, Ed Anderson, Florence Whitaker, J. J. Isley, L. D. Gerringer, Jr., Fannie Gerringer, Kate Foster, W. R. Routh, K. B. Hensley, C. R. Goodwin, Berry Barker, Dee Wyrick, H. H. Zimmerman, Alma Kernodle, Dan Lowe, Bertha Simpson, Gladys Whitaker, N. W. Sparrow, Ralph Crawford, Will Sutton, Lillian Apple, Mazie Guthrie, Mary Bryant, James R. Hailey, Myrtle Huffman, John Bailey, Boyd Gerringer, Clyde Simpson, Margaret Isley, W. J. Penley, Kyle Cable and Dwight Tickle.
