 BURLINGTON — Mr. James L. Brannock Jr., 88, of Twin Lakes Center, 3778 Loyola Court, Burlington died at Alamance Regional Medical Center onWednesday, July 28, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. following a brief illness.
 
 A native of Rockingham County, he was the husband of 68 years to Lois Matkins Brannock, who survives, and the son of James Lester Brannock Sr. and Ethel Somers Brannock, both deceased. He was one of the founders of Matkins Glass and retired after 40 years of service. James was a member of Front Street United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Alamance Country Club and the Burlington Civitan Club.
 
 In addition to his wife Lois of the home, survivors include a son, Mr. Jim Brannock and wife Martha of Elon; a daughter, Mrs. Susan B. Southard and husband Robert of Tampa, Fla.; three grandchildren, Mr. Matthew Southard and friend Katty, Mr. Derek Southard and wife Karen and Mr. Stephen Southard; two stepgrandchildren, Mrs. Nancy Wilson and husband Taylor and Mrs. Celeste Gothorp and husband Roger; and six greatstepgrandchildren.
 
 He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Thelma B. Childrey; a brother, Mr. John Henry Brannock; and a stepmother, Mrs. Grace Somers Brannock.
 
 The funeral service will be conducted at Front Street United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Ben Alexander. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Builders Sunday School Class and Men’s Breakfast Bible Group.
 
 The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence, Twin Lakes Center, 3778 Loyola Court, Burlington, N.C.
 
 Memorials may be made to Front Street United Methodist Church, for the Wheel Chair Ramp Ministry, P.O. Box 2597, Burlington, N.C. 27216-2597.
