Roy Vernon Greeson
BURLINGTON — Roy Vernon Greeson, 89, of 7237 Shoe Road, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several months of failing health.
A native of Guilford County, he was the son of the late David Greeson and the late Ora Alma Smith Greeson and was married for over 68 years to Mrs. Daisy Inez Gerner Greeson, who survives. Mr. Greeson was a fulltime farmer and was a member of Brick Reformed Church, where he served in the church choir and the men’s choir and was also on several boards and committees over the years. He also was a former member of the Board of Directors of Fidelity Bank in Gibsonville.
Mr. Greeson is survived by his wife of the home; three sons, Mack Greeson and his wife, Lynn, of Burlington, Dr. Claude D. Greeson and his wife, Linda, of Burlington, and James Greeson and his wife, Peggy, of Gibsonville; six grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Norman Greeson, Clyde Greeson, Clarence Greeson and Marvin Greeson.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2008, at Brick Reformed Church by the Rev. Wendy Therrell and the Rev. Jim Rosser. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and other times at the home.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Alamance Regional Medical Center and Hospice of Alamance-Caswell and to the numerous family members and friends that helped care for Mr. Greeson.
