BURLINGTON — Mr. Robert Maurice “Bob” Keenan, 59, of 1364 Anthony Road, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at his home.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Mr. Joe Riley Keenan and Mrs. Dorothy Fogelman Keenan, both deceased. He was retired as a captain with TWA and served as a lieutenant with the Navy during the Vietnam conflict. He was in the 142nd Squadron and served two tours of duty in Vietnam, flying more than 200 missions. He was stationed aboard the USS Ranger and the USS Constellation. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross after being shot down in Cambodia. He attended East Carolina University and was a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Carey (Andi) Metts of Burlington; a son, Mr. Robert Michael “Mike” Keenan of Burlington; three sisters, Mrs. Susan Keenan Cook of Burlington, Mrs. John (Linda) Brackett of Valdese and Mrs. Kent (Ellen) Walker of Snow Camp; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Macedonia Lutheran Church by the Rev. Stephen C. Rust, senior pastor. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory from 6 to 8 this evening.
