Mrs. Dorothy Fogleman Keenan
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Dorothy Fogleman Keenan, 82, of 1364 Anthony Road, died at
3:34 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at her home after 16 months of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Joe Riley Keenan. She was
the daughter of Mr. George Albert Fogleman and Mrs. Francis Ellen Moser Fogleman,
both deceased. She was retired from The Cutting Board Restaurant. She was a member of
The Macedonia Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Ladies
Sunday School Class. She was the first woman pilot in Alamance County and was voted
Insurance Mother of the Year for 1972.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. John (Linda) Brackett of Valdese, Mrs. Kent
(Ellen) Walker of Snow Camp and Mrs. Hubert (Susan) Cook of Burlington; one son, Mr.
Robert “Bob” Keenan of Burlington; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Mr. Dover Fogleman, Mr. Max Fogleman
and Mr. Hal Fogleman; and one sister, Ms. Geneva Keck.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Macedonia Evangelical Lutheran
Church by the Rev. Raymond Petrea, interim minister, and the Rev. W. Edward Harper
Jr., pastor of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hickory and former pastor of
Macedonia Evangelical Lutheran Church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes
before the service. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at
the home.
