Mrs. Virginia Nix Tickell Garrett
GRAHAM — Mrs. Virginia Nix Tickell Garrett, 90, formerly of Graham, died Friday, July 1, 2011, at Wesley Long Hospital after a sudden illness.
A native of Henderson County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Cleveland Nix and the late Eunice Williamson Nix.
Mrs. Garrett retired from Burlington Industries’ J. Spence Love Center and was a member of Andrews Memorial Baptist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Carol Pettigrew and her husband, Steve, of Gibsonville, Mrs. Rita Hegarty and her husband, Peter, of Charlotte, and Ms. Sandra Johnson, of Burlington; six grandchildren, Deborah C. Seward, David “Wesley” Carden, Christine Carden, Danyelle Hegarty, Justin Hegarty and Jennifer Johnson; and three great-grandchildren, Wesley and Tiffany Carden and Kendall Seward.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanette Mitchell; and a brother, Fred Nix.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Rich and Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, in the Rich and Thompson Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. David Janey. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park.
Friends and family are invited to the home of Jerry Nix after the service for visitation and fellowship with the family, 439 Brightwood Church Road, Gibsonville, NC 27249.
