Shirley Ann White Salmon
   BURLINGTON — Shirley Ann White Salmon, 78, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2013, at her home in Burlington.

   Visitation will be held at The First Baptist Church in Burlington on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM. The graveside funeral service will follow at Alamance Memorial Park on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 2:30 PM with Dr. Terry Peele officiating.

   Shirley was born Jan. 7, 1935, in Sophia, N.C. to George Dewey and Nettie Beatrice White. Retired from AT&T, Shirley received a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1976. Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church, Telephone Pioneers of America, American Society of Interior Design and Daughters of the American Revolution.

   Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, George Dewey and Nettie Beatrice White; her sister, Patsy White Horne; and brother, Charles Murke White.

   Married for 53 years, she is survived by her husband, Wade Preston Salmon Sr.; son, Wade Preston Salmon Jr.; daughter, Candace Ann Salmon Hosey and husband,

   Joseph Patrick Hosey; two granddaughters,

   Candace

   Pressley Cox and Catherine Gray Ann Cox; sisters; Jean White May and Virginia “Peggy” White Brown and husband, Clarence “Chubby” Brown, as well as her much loved nieces and nephews.

   The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Hospice Center for their support in her final days.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alamance Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
