Mrs. Viola Brown Litten
GIBSONVILLE — Mrs. Viola Brown Litten, 85, of 805 Piedmont Ave., died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at her home after a long illness.
A native of Guilford County, she was the wife of Mr. Wade Maxwell Litten, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. George Edgar Brown and Mrs. Bessie Brown, both deceased. She was a homemaker and assisted in the family business, Wade’s Jewelers. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gibsonville, where she was a member of the Fogleman Bible Class. She established the extension department for shut-ins at the church.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Wadeene Howerton of Gibsonville; two sons, Mr. Max Litten and Mr. Steve Litten, both of Gibsonville; three sisters, Mrs. Leona Moore, Mrs. Anderenna Lewis and Mrs. Mildred Thomas, all of Burlington; a brother, the Rev. Thomas Brown of West Virginia; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Elmo Brown.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Gibsonville by the Rev. J. Billy Graham, a former pastor of the church, and the Rev. Thomas Brown. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 4 to 6 this afternoon and at other times at the home.
