Wade M. Litten
GIBSONVILLE — Wade M. Litten, 86, of 805 Piedmont St., died at 7:20 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at Moses Cone Hospital after several years of failing health.
A native of Keyser, W. Va., he was the husband of the late Viola Brown Litten, and the son of the late Russell and Frances Minnick Litten. He was founder of Wade’s Jewelers.

He was an original director and past president of Gibsonville Community Bank, a member of the Gibsonville Lions Club and was recognized as Gibsonville Merchant Hall of Fame in the year 2000. He attended Elon College and Spencer School of Watchmaking. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gibsonville where he served as treasurer for 35 years, and was a lifetime deacon of the church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Wadeene “Dean” Howerton and her husband Bill of Gibsonville; two sons, Max Litten and his wife Pam, and Steve Litten and his wife Peggy, all of Gibsonville; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Mr. Litten was one of 24 children. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Gibsonville by the Rev. Brian Ayers, pastor, and the Rev. Thomas Brown, brother-in-law.

Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park. Mr. Litten will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until placed in the church to lie in state 30 minutes before the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home.
