Lorine Joyner Sutton
RALEIGH — Lorine Joyner Sutton, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at The Laurels of Salisbury.
She was born Nov. 12, 1921, in Rockingham County, to the late William Lewis and Ada Lee Dixon Joyner and was the wife of 62 years to the late Rev. Thomas Daniel Sutton.
Lorine was a member of Elon Community Church and a lifelong member of the Women’s Fellowship. She was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the Virginia Education Association. Lorine graduated from Elon College in 1957 and went on to teach First Grade for 26 years. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Falcone of Raleigh; son, Thomas Eugene Sutton (Brenda Sims) of Salisbury; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Darnese Stone of Reidsville.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Brenda White; sisters, Louise Lawson, Inez Till; and brothers, William Harvey Joyner, Ira Odell Joyner, Paul Joyner; and a brotherin-law, George Stone.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2016, in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Bob Wachs with the burial to follow in Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Laurels of Salisbury for their loving care during Lorine’s stay.
