Mrs. Edith Guthrie Mogle
SNOW CAMP — Mrs. Edith Guthrie Mogle, 85, of 8262 N.C. 87 South, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at Alamance Regional Medical Center of injuries received in an automobile accident.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Mr. E. Revere Mogle, who survives, and the daughter of the late Mr. Loy E. Guthrie and Mrs. Daisy Thompson Guthrie, both deceased. She was a retired school teacher. A graduate of High Point College, she taught at Eli Whitney High School, Silk Hope High School and Eastern Alamance High School, where she was Teacher of the Year in 1973. She won awards from the N.C. Press Club, was a charter member of the Sword of Peace outdoor drama cast, helped with research on the book “Back to Bethel,” was a former newspaper columnist for the City-County Magazine and was a life member of the N.C. Bee Keepers Association. She was a member of Concord United Methodist Church and was a former Sunday school teacher.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include a daughter, Ms. Edie Mogle of Raleigh; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Fuquay of Burlington; two stepgrandchildren; and one great-stepgrandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Everett G. Mogle; and two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Pugh and Mrs. Audrey Moon.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Concord United Methodist Church by Pastor Jeanne Neal. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home.
