ELON COLLEGE — Mr. James William Griswold, 75, of 105 Woodland Drive, died at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
A native of Greensboro, he was the husband of Mrs. Nora Bryant Griswold, who survives, and the son of Mr. James Nuby Griswold and Mrs. Myrtle Kellam Griswold, both deceased. He was retired from AT&T after 23 years of service.
He was a member of the Elon Exchange Club, the Telephone Pioneers of America, and an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of Elon College Community Church United Church of Christ, the Men’s Fellowship, and the Burlington Area Men’s Fellowship.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Ms. Olga Marie Griswold of Elon College and Mrs. Patricia Griswold Oliver of Gibsonville; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Elon College Community Church by the Rev. Arch Aitcheson, pastor.
Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at the Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 Saturday evening and at other times at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Patricia Oliver, 504 Westfield Lane, Gibsonville.
